Ikageng man was sentenced to 25 Years for the brutal murder of his girlfriend

The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, has welcomed the 25-year imprisonment sentence handed down to Molefi Benjamin Ramoholokoane (61) by the Potchefstroom Regional Court for the murder of his girlfriend, Maria Masego Fumba (37).

The tragic incident took place in Cosmos Street, Kanana Extension, Ikageng, where police responded to a distress call and found Fumba lying in a pool of blood with two stab wounds to the chest. She was declared dead at the scene by Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).

According to evidence presented in court, the gruesome attack occurred in the presence of a witness, who identified Ramoholokoane as the perpetrator.

Major General Asaneng commended the dedication and efficiency of Constable Pholoso Mosenogi from the Ikageng Detectives Unit, whose thorough investigation helped secure the conviction in record time. He also praised the prosecution team for ensuring that justice was swiftly served in this case of gender-based violence.

“This sentence sends a strong message that violence against women will not be tolerated. We remain committed to ensuring that perpetrators of such heinous crimes face the full might of the law,” said Major General Asaneng.
