
Investigating officer, Constable Pholoso Mosenogi
The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, has welcomed the 25-year imprisonment sentence handed down to Molefi Benjamin Ramoholokoane (61) by the Potchefstroom Regional Court for the murder of his girlfriend, Maria Masego Fumba (37), in Cosmos Street, Kanana Extension, Ikageng.
According to evidence presented in court, police were called to the scene where Fumba was found lying in a pool of blood with two stab wounds to her chest. Emergency and Medical Services (EMRS) personnel declared her dead at the scene.
A witness who was present during the horrific incident identified Ramoholokoane as the perpetrator, leading to his swift arrest.
Major General Asaneng commended the investigating officer, Constable Pholoso Mosenogi of the Ikageng Detectives, as well as the prosecution team, for their dedication and swift action that resulted in the conviction.
“This sentence sends a strong message that gender-based violence will not be tolerated in our communities. We commend the team for their professionalism and commitment in ensuring justice for the victim,” said Asaneng.
