Staff from Standard Bank Lichtenburg: Maria Mooketsi, Buhle Mofokeng, Khumo Molopyane and Neo Leburu
Standard Bank in Lichtenburg has taken its services directly to the people of Itsoseng, running a community outreach initiative that focuses on financial education and cus
tomer support. For almost a month, the bank has been stationed in Itsoseng, offering guidance on how residents can save, manage their money wisely, and remain vigilant when using ATMs.
According to spokesperson Maria Mooketsi, the initiative has been well received by the community, with many residents expressing appreciation for the convenience of accessing banking support without having to travel long distances.
“We want to bring banking closer to the people, especially in areas where access to
financial institutions is limited. Our goal is to empower communities not just to use our services, but also to understand the importance of saving and being alert when using ATMs,” said Mooketsi. She added that the bank plans to expand its outreach to surrounding villages in the near future, making financial services more accessible to rural communities.
Local residents have welcomed the move, saying it saves them both time and transport costs while giving them valuable advice on financial management and safety.
